Easter Activities
Spring is in the air, flowers are blooming, and Easter is just around the corner! It’s the perfect time to gather the little ones for a basketful of egg-citing (haha terrible pun, I know - there’s plenty more where that came from!) Easter activities that will have them hopping with joy. From egg hunts to crafts and everything in between, there’s no shortage of fun to be had during this holiday.
Egg-cellent Egg Hunts:
What’s Easter without a good old-fashioned egg hunt? Get those baskets ready and let the search begin! Whether you hide eggs in the back garden, around the house or at a local park, the thrill of the hunt never gets old. For added excitement, consider organising a neighbourhood egg hunt with friends and family. One of the boys from my primary school used to have an egg hunt every year for the whole class and I always looked forward to it. Just a little extra tip - if you’re having a big egg hunt, maybe make a note of where they all are… his Dad was finding them after the party all year long, often with the lawn mower! Don’t forget to include a mix of different kinds and colourful surprises to keep the sprogs on their toes!
Easter Egg Decorating Extravaganza:
Unleash your inner artist with an Easter egg decorating extravaganza! From traditional dyeing techniques to creative designs using stickers, markers, and glitter, the possibilities are endless. Let the kids’ imaginations run wild as they transform plain eggs into works of art. For an extra dose of fun, you could always set up a decorating station complete with paints, brushes, and plenty of colourful decorations. Who knew decorating eggs could be so egg-citing? Start by blowing the eggs so that you have hollow shells to work with. A quick guide on how to do this can be found here.
Planting Spring Flowers:
Celebrate the arrival of spring by planting flowers or herbs in your garden or in pots. Choose colourful flowers such as tulips, daffodils or hyacinths to add a festive touch to your outdoor space.
Easter Movie Marathon:
Set up a cozy movie night at home with a selection of Easter-themed movies such as "Hop," "Peter Rabbit," or "It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown." Don't forget the popcorn and Easter sweets!
Easter Crafts Galore:
Get crafty this Easter with a variety of DIY projects that are sure to delight. From making Easter bonnets and paper plate masks to creating bunny-themed finger puppets and sock bunnies, there’s no shortage of creative activities to keep little hands busy. Set up a crafting station with an assortment of supplies, including construction paper, glue, scissors, and googly eyes, and let the crafting adventures begin!
Baking Bonanza:
Who says Easter treats are just for eating? Roll up your sleeves and get baking with a deliciously egg-tastic baking bonanza! From classic sugar cookies and carrot cake cupcakes to adorable bunny-shaped cookies and chocolate nests filled with candy eggs, there’s no limit to the sweet treats you can whip up together. Let the kids lend a hand in the kitchen as they measure, mix, and decorate their own Easter masterpieces. If you’re feeling particularly enthusiastic, you and the kids could try your hand at hot cross buns. The best part? Sampling the delicious creations together as a family!
With these egg-ceptional Easter activities, you’re sure to create memories that will last a lifetime. So gather your little bunnies, put on your bunny ears, and get ready for a day filled with egg-citement, laughter, and joy. Happy Easter!
